An act of Tibetan patriotism against the foreign invaders!
There was a report that the communist party made the news media reporters who report on TV to wear fur as well…
What is it with the communists infatuation with killing precious animals? I don’t get it…many of them don’t even bother to put them to “sleep” before removing the fur off their backs, it’s very disturbing… “A Shocking Look inside China’s Fur Farms” See that video here! People don’t wear fur! If you want fur take some pills and grow hair on your own backs!
It was also discovered that they are taking endangered tigers and raising them for their fur! “From Human Organs to Tiger Farming”
New images of burning of wild animal pelts in dramatic act of dissent

New images of burning of wild animal pelts in dramatic act of dissentNew images received from Tibet depict thousands of dollars worth of wild animal pelts being burned in the Tibetan area of Amdo, eastern Tibet, in a dramatic assertion of Tibetan identity at the height of the current crackdown on dissent. The photographs were taken in February 2009, during Tibetan New Year, at a time when Tibetans sought to mark the festival by mourning those killed in the protests. This was in defiance of the Chinese authorities’ attempts to enforce celebration of the New Year.
The Tibetan source who provided the images said: “The purpose of the action is to show that Tibetans will give up wearing animal skins completely and that they did not want to celebrate the New Year in 2009, because everyone thought it was a very black year for all Tibetan people in and outside of Tibet. Also by organizing this action, they would like to show their solidarity for the people who have sacrificed their precious lives for the freedom of Tibet after the violent crackdown in Lhasa last year and across Tibetan areas inside Tibet by the Chinese military forces.” (Photo: ICT)
The burning of the wild animal furs as an expression of Tibetan loyalties was originally inspired by a statement made by the Dalai Lama during a major religious festival in 2006 in which he said he felt “ashamed” when he saw Tibetans wearing the pelts of endangered animals such as tigers or leopards.
Immediately after he made the comments, Tibetans all over Tibet began to burn animal skins – in monetary value the equivalent of burning family cars or houses. Their actions were expressions of loyalty both to the Dalai Lama and to the Tibetan Buddhist culture, which advocates compassion for all sentient beings. This is the first known instance of wild animal pelt burning linked to the protests that broke out across Tibet in March, 2008.[Read More]
I think the communists should be relocated!
The Chinese communist party complains about what American’s did to the Native Americans, yet this is what they are doing to the Tibetan people in the 20th & 21st century?
The American government has recognized the wrongs of what the early Americans did to the Native American population, probably not enough, but that doesn’t give anyone else the right to reenact those hateful deeds, especially when those deeds have been recognized as being inhuman and against Human Rights in the 20th and 21st century by many nations! It’s genocide! No justification for it, but greed!
What ever happened to the promises the communists gave to the Olympic Committee? Seem less than honorable.
Chinese police shoot dam protesters, Tibetan government-in-exile claims
Six Tibetan women were shot by China security forces during a protest over a hydroelectric dam project in Sichuan province, the Tibetan government-in-exile claimed today.
The women were demonstrating against a forcible relocation programme in Yajiang, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Region, on Sunday morning, when public security officers and armed police opened fire, according to the statement from Dharamsala.
The condition of the women is unknown as they were reportedly taken away by the authorities. Their names were given as Tsering Lhamo, Rigzin Lhamo, Dolma, Kelsang, Dolkar and Khaying.
Other Tibetan sources were unable to confirm the shooting. Chinese government officials said they would look into the claims.
Several dams are under construction in the area. Among them is the Lianghekou hydroelectric plant, which is scheduled to begin operation in 2010. [read more]

Military Disbars One of Aung San Suu Kyi’s Attorney

Myanmar bars Suu Kyi lawyer, U.S. renews sanctions
Myanmar’s junta has barred a prominent activist lawyer from defending opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, as pressure intensifies on the regime to drop new charges against the Nobel Peace laureate.
Aung Thein said the order revoking his license was issued on Friday, a day after a prison court charged Suu Kyi with breaking the conditions of her nearly six-year house arrest, which is due to expire on May 27. “I went to Insein Prison to be one of the five defense lawyers for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, and they issued the order the next day,” Aung Thein told Reuters.
Critics of the regime have denounced the trial of Suu Kyi and two female companions, due to start on Monday, on charges stemming from the mysterious visit of an American intruder who was arrested after he claimed to have spent two days at her lakeside home in Yangon.
Suu Kyi, 63, faces up to five years in jail if convicted.
Her lawyers insist she is innocent and did not invite U.S. citizen John Yettaw, who according to state media swam to her tightly-guarded lakeside home using homemade flippers.
Yettaw’s motives remained unclear, but he has been charged with various offences, including encouraging others to break the law and “illegal swimming.” [read more]
Free, like any other citizen of the globe
Love this quote!
“The
Dalai Lama is more than free, like any other citizen of the globe, who
would want to visit our country” -Ms Nkoana-Mashabane
Yes! It is a world that should be free, but unfortunately only in some. A lot of people are under military ruling dictators only when the people rule the governments shall they be free.
It’s sad the communist party won’t talk with the Dalai Lama; they consistently saying he’s an alleged “splitis” , no kindness, friendliness or gestures of kindness. We all know what’s going on here, and people are not blind to those facts. Tibetan’s should be able to govern their own people and land; they’ve been their for thousands of years, just like the other people in the Himalayas.
It’s the fact that the communists are acting like this, that make other people angry, so they are making the situation worse, it’s not the Dalai Lama calling on a Free Tibet, it’s people like me and my neighbors and friends because we now what hiding things mean and putting on a staged show is just a show. If people wanted a show we’d go see Madonna, Elton John or some other natural artists and actors.
Students for a Free Tibet : South Africa in Dalai Lama U-turn
New International Relations Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane said Tibet’s spiritual leader could now visit whenever he wanted.
The government caused an international outcry when it said it would not allow him to attend a peace conference, linked to the 2010 Football World Cup.
Critics accused South Africa of caving in to Chinese pressure.
The visa ban prompted Archbishop Desmond Tutu and former South African President FW de Klerk to pull out of the conference for Nobel laureates, forcing organisers to postpone it indefinitely.
Despite the furor at the time, government spokesman Thabo Masebe said no visa would be issued “between now and the World Cup”, which South Africa is hosting. The government said his presence would distract attention from the World Cup – the first to be held in Africa.
But Ms Nkoana-Mashabane, appointed this week to newly elected President Jacob Zuma’s cabinet, said she wanted to clarify the position.
“The Dalai Lama is more than free, like any other citizen of the globe, who would want to visit our country,” she told journalists.
Beijing says the Dalai Lama is pushing for Tibetan independence, and has stirred up unrest in the region.
But the Dalai Lama, who fled to India in 1959 during an uprising against Chinese rule, has said he only wants limited autonomy for his homeland.
Prison without trial after being seen on YouTube discribing torture
Monk Freed After 6 Months in Prison
A senior Tibetan monk has been released from prison after being held for six months without charge, according to the International Campaign for Tibet, an advocacy group based outside China. The monk, Jigme, from Labrang Monastery in the town of Xiahe, was detained by security officers after he appeared in a video posted on YouTube in which he described being tortured during another period of detention. Two well-known human rights lawyers in China, Li Fangping and Jiang Tianyong, took up Jigme’s case last month. The lawyers also represent Phurbu Tsering Rinpoche, a senior Tibetan religious leader still being detained in Sichuan Province.
